Abstract
Research on students with disabilities (SWD) in post-secondary education has largely focused on entry into undergraduate study or transitions to post-graduation outcomes, leaving the middle years under-examined. The study examined how campus experiences during middle years are shaped for students with disabilities, compared with students without disabilities. Secondary data from the 2023 Canadian University Survey Consortium (CUSC) Middle-Years Student Survey were analyzed using quantitative analyses. Campus experience was examined across academic, social, and institutional dimensions. Findings revealed that middle-year experiences were largely and relatively similar between groups, with differences concentrated in a few areas: comfort on campus, commitment to completion, and use of campus services. The results suggest that institutional systems may not align with students’ increasing demands during middle years. The study foregrounds the middle years as a meaningful stage for understanding campus experience and informing more targeted support practices.
