Mark Zacharias is an adjunct professor in the 探花系列’s School of Public Administration and the past president of , a national climate and clean energy think tank and a fellow at SFU’s . Prior to this, Mark held multiple roles over 25 years in the British Columbia public service, including deputy minister of environment and climate change strategy and assistant deputy minister roles in various natural resources, education and innovation portfolios.

At the Centre, Mark will be providing mentorship and advice on climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives. In addition, as much of his career has centred on policy development related to natural resource management, climate action, and marine management, he will also provide expertise and guidance on how to advance public policy reform to drive change. Looking at the global local nexus, Mark is interested in and will be expanding his work on the arctic, policy frameworks for global carbon markets and wildfire resilience.

Mark holds a PhD in zoology from the University of Guelph and bachelor's and master's degrees in geography from the 探花系列. He has published extensively, including the books, and is currently one of Business in Vancouver’s 500 most influential business leaders in British Columbia.
