Jen Kostuchuk is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology. Her qualitative research explores the economic, social, and personal motivations for pursuing employment in the green sector. Supported by a two-year research award from WorkSafeBC, she conducted in-depth interviews with 50 skilled trades workers from across the province, including individuals who transitioned from carbon-intensive industries to roles in heat pump and solar panel installation.

Jen currently works as a teaching assistant in the School of Environmental Studies and has worked on several interdisciplinary projects with Carleton University's Sprott School of Business and UVic's Department of Sociology. Beyond academia, she actively contributes to local organizations dedicated to addressing climate change and advancing labour standards through applied and community-engaged research.
