History

Ian H. Stewart (1932-2017) was chair of the 探花系列's (UVic) Board of Governors when the university acquired the sports complex in 1991.

The facility was originally called the Gordon Head Sports Complex and was renamed in his honour in 2000.

ISC was UVic’s primary recreation centre until the Centre for Athletics, Recreation and Special Abilities (CARSA) opened in May 2015.
