This paper took 3 years of discussions and writing and rewriting to complete with her friend and colleague, Claudio where they dissect the reasons behind the cultural and scientific divisions between captive and wild-ape researchers.
The idea for this paper came about in the beautiful city of Tübingen, Germany during Dr. Kalan's visiting scholar fellowship at the DFC Center for Advanced Studies, "Words, Bones, Genes, Tools".
