Meet Jennifer DeVries
About
Hello! My name is Jenn (she/her). I am a settler from the Philippines and feel grateful to live and work on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən peoples since 2016.
My role is to support students to have timely and coordinated access to Student Wellness Centre (SWC) services through effective scheduling and care navigation. I serve as a key liaison between Student Wellness, campus partners, and community healthcare providers, facilitating referrals and supporting the triage of high-risk and complex student needs.
I support in maintaining efficient scheduling operations, ensuring accurate documentation within electronic systems, and supporting the seamless flow of care pathways. In addition, I contribute to team capacity by training and supporting new staff in electronic records systems and scheduling tools, promoting consistency and excellence in care coordination.
My journey in nursing began in the Philippines, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. I spent more than six years working in Dubai, U.A.E. as a Registered nurse, gaining valuable experience and cultural perspective. Since moving to Canada in 2016, I worked as medical office assistant in a family practice office, walk-in clinics in the community and UVic Student Wellness, where I discovered that supporting students and caring for their health and well-being is truly my passion—it brings me joy to make a positive difference in their lives every day.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, spending time outdoors with my dogs, whether at the park or along the waterfront and spending quality time with family and friends.
