The Scarborough Charter Steering Committee aims to create, collaborate, or provide information on events and initiatives that celebrate Black inclusion, joy, and achievements. Below is a list of events that have been shared with us.

Africa: The Last Great Frontier
A Student-Led Panel presented by The African Nexus.
You don't have to be African to care about Africa's future; you just have to care about the future, your future.
A continent of 1.4 billion, the world’s youngest population, the world’s fastest growing population, and a rapidly shifting political and economic landscape. When the dust from Trump settles, Africa’s story will be the story of the 21st century. And yet, we remain largely unaware that on the axis of the second-largest continent on the planet, the world is shifting.
In this student-led panel, students from diverse academic fields will present competing perspectives on the social, political, and economic challenges facing the continent, and the opportunities buried within those challenges. The panellists will go head-to-head in a debate-style dialogue, arguing the case for Africa as the next great frontier and the role students and the diaspora play in shaping what comes next.
Expect pizza, expect bold arguments and expect a conversation that would matter and shift your perspectives.
Whether your world focuses economics, engineering, political science, or the humanities, there is one more frontier for you to make your mark upon the world.

Black Staff Lunch & Lounge
We know there aren’t many chances for Black staff to connect so join us for an informal lunchtime gathering at the new lounge space in Clearihue C117 on the third Tuesday of every month! We’ll have some casual conversation starters and light refreshments - drinks and snacks to share. It’s BYOL (bring your own lunch). On each event page, hit the “add to my calendar” button to mark the event.
