The Math & Stats Assistance Centre (MSAC) tutors will be available to support you in your summer courses starting on Monday, January 12. Drop-in tutoring will be available through the April exam period. Details are below.

These reviews are not complete overviews of the course material, and the MSAC tutors are not involved in creating or evaluating your actual final exam, but we hope that these sessions will be useful to you as you study!

Collaborative study space

The Betty & Gilbert Kennedy Math & Stats Assistance Centre is located in ELL 165. The room will be usually open for collaborative study from 9:30am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday, starting Monday, January 12.

The Math & Stats Assistance Centre tutors will be available for drop-in tutoring starting in the second week of the term (Monday, January 12, 2026). Although you can ask about any 1st- or 2nd-year math course at any time, you should consult the schedule by course for when at least one tutor is very comfortable supporting your class.

Our tutors available for in-person tutoring at the following times.

Mondays & Thursdays:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays:

The Math & Stats Assistance Centre will be closed from 3:30pm on Friday, February 13, until Friday, February 20 for Reading Break. We will reopen at 1:30pm on Sunday, February 22.

Math 151 Practice Test

Study for your MATH 151 test with the Math & Stats Assistance Centre! In this session you will write a practice test under real test conditions, and then discuss it with one of our experienced tutors who will also share valuable test-taking and test-prep strategies with you. This session will help you to practice your calculus skills, and also to get familiar and comfortable with a typical university mathematics test environment.

In order to ensure we have enough printed test papers for everyone who attends, advanced registration is required. Please no later than 9am on February 9th.

We will have a special schedule for the exam period, April 4 to 22nd (closed on April 3 for Good Friday and April 6 for Easter Monday), which will be posted in late March.

Although you can ask about any 1st- or 2nd-year math course at any time, please check the schedule by course (updated Sept 23rd!) so you know when at least one tutor is very comfortable supporting your class.

The Math & Stats Assistance Centre will be closed on Tuesday, September 30th (Truth and Reconciliation Day), Sunday, Oct 12th and Monday, Oct 13th (Thanksgiving), Sunday, Nov 9th through Wednesday, Nov 12th (Reading Break), and 11:30am-12:30pm Dec 3rd (National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women).

We will have a special exam period schedule, which will be posted in November.

Workshops and Course Specific Supports

The Math & Stats Assistance Centre will be offering 3 workshops this term. All will involve a brief discusssion of the scholarly work on the topic, practical tips you can implement in your studying this term, and group activities to put advice into action right away. 

  • Make math notes work for you: 4:30-5:20pm on Wed, Sept 17th in LIBR 025.
  • How to Succeed in Math 100/109: 4:30-5:20pm on Mon, Sept 22nd in CLE A127.
  • Triumphing over Math Anxiety: 4:30-5:20pm on Wed, Sept 24th in LIBR 025.

Please note that we will be closed on: May 19 (Victoria Day), Jun 30 (Reading Break), Jul 1 (Canada Day), and Aug 4 (B.C. Day).

The Learning Commons (Mearns Centre for Learning - McPherson Library) is our second location. Find us in Room 129, on the main floor of the McPherson Library.
