Undergraduate admissions
Note: the application deadline for September 2026 admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Public Health program has been extended to May 1, 2026.
Before you apply
The Bachelor of Arts in Public Health is a 4-year degree program that requires 60.0 total units of coursework. There are 2 application pathways to the program.
Applying with post-secondary experience
You can transfer into the program after completing at least 27.0 to 30.0 units of first- and second-year coursework from the 探花系列 (UVic) or another post-secondary institution. Remaining credits are earned through a mix of online core and area of focus courses, and an elective course (online or in-person), once you are admitted to the program in your third year.
In some cases, you may enter the program in your second year with the equivalent of 12.0 units of coursework.
However, it is likely that, along with our online courses, you will still need to take credits offered in-person by other academic departments and will not be able to study fully online and remotely until your third year.
Applying from high school
There is no direct pathway into the Public Health program from high school. Instead, you must first apply to Social Sciences and then transfer into Public Health, usually after 2 years of study at UVic.
Admission requirements
All applicants who meet the criteria for admission to UVic will be reviewed according to the School of Public Health and Social Policy (PHSP) criteria, including:
- grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 (B-) on the most recent 12 units of study
- letter of intent
- CV/resume
- other considerations, including professional experience and community service
Visit the undergraduate admissions site for full program details and admission requirements.
Required documents
In addition to the documents outlined below, you have the option of submitting other documents that provide evidence of suitability (e.g., a writing sample).
Transcripts
You must submit transcripts that show the following:
- high school completion (or equivalent)
- all previously attended post-secondary institutions
- note: failure to disclose previous studies may result in your admission and registration being cancelled
Please upload unofficial copies of your transcripts with your online application. Official copies are only required if you are offered a place in the program.
