Our research
The School of Public Health and Social Policy (PHSP) encompasses interdisciplinary and interprofessional fields of study, which are reflected in the varied and dynamic research carried out by our faculty members.
Research with a community focus
Our research focuses on collaborative action across all sectors including community; in fact, PHSP researchers are some of the most community-connected researchers at the 探花系列. This approach is supported by partnerships within UVic, with other universities, government, non-government organizations and the non-profit sector—as well as community coalitions and interest groups.
Principles of social justice and equity, diversity and cultural safety inform inquiry in the PHSP. Some of our key research areas include:
- health promotion
- healthy communities
- social policy
- disability
- Indigenous health
- sexual health and sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections
- 2SLGBTQIA+ people’s health
